Welcome to Abilene Elks Lodge #1675!
About the Lodge
The Abilene Elks Lodge was chartered in 1945 with 70 members. The Elks is not just a dining club, but is more importantly a philinthopic organization dedicated to charitable works in our community, state and nation. We endeavor to full fill this purpose by following the principles of our order: Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity. There are many opportunities for members to enjoy fellowship, volunteer activities, dining and entertainment events.
The lodge is no longer a smoke filled pool hall and lounge. The Abilene Elks Lodge is a family-friendly multi-purpose facility that caters to our membership and the community. Our membership is increasingly a cross section of our community with members of all ages and genders.
To become a member, a candidate must be proposed for membership by a member and have a number of members are references. Application forms are available at the lodge by calling (785) 263-1675.
New Members
Due to the continued efforts of the members to spread the word of Elkdom, an initiation was conducted on January 28th for 5 new members. We welcome our new members: Jesse Howard, Terry Foltz, Kelly Cooper, Lyle Barker and Eric Swartz.
Going Digital
The October-November lodge newsletter will be sent out around September 30th and is available in the "Members-Only Section" of this website. You must login to have access to members-only material. We are moving towards e-mailing the newsletter to as many members as possible, which would have nearly 40 cents for each copy for each issue. This will save the lodge money and will over time allow us to better fulfill our philanthropic mission. Please e-mail me at jamesholland1970@att.net and let me know that you would like the newsletter via e-mail only. So far 41 members have elected to take the newsletter by e-mail only.
In addition to e-mail, we will be using this website to make calendars, newsletters and other communications available to the membership. Past newsletters are currently under the Members-Only Section. The website also has many useful features that we will be developing over time. For instance, there is a members only discussion board where we can discuss lodge and club issues and communicate with eachother in general. We will start sending weekly e-mail reminders of upcoming events.
